James Hammond

James Hammond

Bachelor of Science (BSc)

William Colenso College

Former William Colenso College student James Hammond loves the thrill of kayaking. He's been involved in Canoe Slalom for over four years now, and says the adrenaline rush he gets from being on the water is what he enjoys most about the discipline.

He's competed in three New Zealand secondary school competitions, where he received bronze in teams, and was selected for the New Zealand development squad to travel to Australia. In the Australian secondary schools he received a bronze in the under nineteen K1 mens catergory.

He's also been involved in national competitions as well as multiple selection races. James was the Deputy Head Boy at William Colenso College, and hopes to make the New Zealand Performance Squad within two years. Later down the track, James wants to pursue some sort of leadership role in his field of work.

For Canoe Slalom, James wants to compete in the World Championships. James is also coaching canoe polo at Waikato Diocesan School for Girls.
